VCF Environment Hosts

I was recently asked for a dashboard focused on showing only VCF host physical CPU details. I looked at all the VCF Operations OOTB (Out of the Box) dashboards first and did not see one dedicated to showing only host physical CPU details. So this is what I created, and I wanted to share my ideas with the vCommunity. It’s a simple design, but it does exactly what the use case requested.

Dashboard Design

  • Top Section | vCenters (WKLD Domains) - Clusters
    • Shows totals for the entire VCF environment
    • Allows the user to select a Workload Domain or Cluster to filter the hosts shown
    • Includes a distribution view to show all CPU models
    • Shows host CPU details based on the selected filter
  • Bottom Section | All Hosts
    • Shows CPU details for all hosts

With VCF 9.1, I really like the Sections feature. In this example, the top section allows the end user to select a Workload Domain or Cluster. If the user wants to see all hosts, they can simply minimize the top section and focus on all hosts.

Host CPU Details Included

  • CPU Socket Count
  • Host Core Count
  • CPU Model
  • Is Hyperthreading Enabled?
  • Power Management Setting

I included a couple of CPU settings to add value to the dashboard.
